No. 8 - Review - Southbank

No. 8 restaurant in the Crown complex on Southbank is obviously one of the multitude of restaurants on Southbank.  How does anyone choose?

The interior of No. 8 is slightly underwhelming.  It's kind of darkish although in its own way fits in with Crown Casino.
The menu at No. 8 is on the original side of standard so that is definitely nice.  The customer service and knowledgeable and friendly staff also make for as good impression.  All good so far.

For what is regarded as a premium restaurant, atleast in Crown's humble words No. 8 is very reasonably priced.  Keep in mind that the mains are on the bare side so you might want to order some sides to go with them or order a dessert.
Nice and rare and how I like it.  Very simple and the flavours don't overpower the meat. The coating on the meat kind of just falls off though. Recommended.

As I said earlier the mains are a bit bare.  You could certainly argue this is almost run of the mill. Actually it tasted very good and I would recommend again.  Beef cheek anyone?

The cos, rocket, parsley and radish salad is as advertised.  Not a ground breaker here but nice all the same.
A nice simple dessert and perfect end to the meal.
A modern take on the apple crumble isn't too bad.  Even so I like the good old fashioned version so while it looks interesting ultimately it scores a par.
